System overview
Explanation
-
Intended for 27MHz remote control of model submarines.
-
Consists of a transmitter and a receiver PCB.
-
The transmitter is used ashore and the receiver is used in the vessel.
-
Controller is a better word for the receiver, as receiving is just one of its functions.
-
Supports two radio systems: AX5043 transceiver IC (discontinued, but still available on EBay etc.) and Radiometrix LMT0/LMR0 modules. Respectively small and cheap versus large and expensive.
-
There is one transmitter and multiple receivers.
-
There are receivers with and without digital outputs (NPN, ULN2003).
-
Receivers without digital outputs are smaller, supports an auxiliary PCB and are suitable for piston tanks only.
-
The hardware design of the receiver based on the AX5043 without digital outputs supports half-duplex communication (i.e. telemetry).
-
Receivers with digital outputs, do not support the auxiliary PCB but support, besides piston tanks, also elastic ballast tanks that are controlled with pumps and valves (low pressure, air and water).
Coding used on PCBs and drawings
-
The term ‘mini’ refers to a receiver without digital outputs.
-
RD27 refers to a 27MHz receiver with decoding capability.
-
TE27 refers to a 27MHz transmitter with encoding capability.
